Halo 3

Yup, Halo 3 is almost here and I must say that the hype has gotten to me. I will probably pick up the game on Tuesday. I'm not usually a fan of FPS games but what gets me is the 4 player co-op. I can see myself enjoying the game with a couple of other people playing along with me. I enjoyed the co-op in Gears of War so I figure that Halo 3 will be just as fun.

It was surprisingly a light weekend of gaming but I did manage to pick up about 150 points to my gamerscore. I completed Uno on Saturday morning to get the full 200 points. I had just the 40 win achievement left so I played a lot of 2 vs 2 with the computer to pick that one up pretty quick. I also threw Fight Night Round 3 in the console and won another sponsored fight to get an easy 100 points. I fought Evander Holyfield and I thought that I would have to resort to biting ears to win but he was rather easy to beat. To finish off the weekend, I played a little Puzzle Fighter and the most surprising thing was that I got 10 points from it and not some weird number like 6 or 7 points. I guess I'll spend the rest of the night trying to pick up the 3 ranked matches wins so I get my gamerscore back to something normal.

I hate to admit it but I had to cheat to some achievements tonight. I figured it would take me quite a while to get the hardest NCAA Football 08 achievements I might as do some tweaking of rosters. I got the return a punt for a TD and the return a kickoff for a TD achievements by setting all the players speed on the opponent's team to 0. It took me longer to make that change than to get the achievements in the game. I basically have the end of season Dynasty achievements, the 4th quarter comeback and the 5 INTs with one player achievements to go. I'm going to try for some of the Dynasty achievements tonight but as it stands now I'm up to a nice round 6623 gamerscore...Thanks Puzzle Fighter for that score!

Fun Times Were Had By All

That's probably one of my favorite quotes from Diggnation and it pretty much sums up what I've been playing since the last time I posted. I've resisted getting any new games since BioShock but I can't hold out my longer. My next purchase will probably be FIFA 08 and I'll probably play the crap out of it. To combat all of the new games this Fall, I'll sign up with Gamefly again. The promotion with brightspot.tv makes Gamefly a little easier to justify each month. The deal is that with brightspot.tv is you get "paid" for watching ads and answering some simple questions. Their tie in with Gamefly is that you can use $10 of your "payment" towards your Gamefly subscription. So, with a little bit of work I'll end up getting two games out at a time for about $15 a month.

Enough of that and on to the gaming! Since the last time, I've concentrated my efforts on NCAA Football 08. I've all but completed my Campus Legend character and as soon as I get Madden 08 I'll export him to that and dominate the NFL with myself. I managed to knock out a good portion of the achievements and I just have some of the harder ones (blocking kicks, 5 INTs, etc) and the longer ones (recruiting) to pick up. I'll get around to downloading some of my NCAA 08 videos and sticking them on YouTube so you can view them a lot easier. I've got some good plays on there.

Sadly, I haven't spent that much time with BioShock. I keep trying to find a period where I can sit down and play this for an hour or two but that just never seems to happen. I really do want to play this game but I always get dragged in to playing NCAA 08. I'm going to make it my goal to play BioShock this week.

What else have I been playing? I picked up Zuma when it was on sale and it's pretty fun but I mainly got it for my wife since she pwns the PC version. I also bought Sonic 2 and I'll be damned if I can't get past the Chemical Plant Zone 2. I was also disappointed to hear that there's no online co-op even though Xbox.com says otherwise. And the last XBLA game I bought was Super Puzzle Fighter. I've never really played it before and it's pretty fun. I'm still learning the strategeries of placing the gems in the appropriate locations but it's fun none the less to blow up a huge gem and causing chaos on the other side of the screen. This game is also making me want Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix...that game should rock.
